Manchester police have released the name of the man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting in their city. They say officers were called to an area near Elm Street and Mechanic Street Sunday after getting reports of a person driving recklessly and doing burnouts. The vehicle driven by 18-year-old Waleed Al Thuwayni was later spotted in a parking lot, and he pulled out what appeared to be a weapon, which led to an officer opening fire. Al Thuwayni was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries. A black BB gun was later discovered inside the vehicle.
Officials at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport have revealed the timeline for upcoming runway improvement projects. The first phase of the project is expected to begin this Saturday, and work will include milling and paving and replacing the approach lighting system at several runways to improve safety. The airport is working closely with the FAA and airlines ensure that there’s a limited impact on arrivals and departures. Construction should be done by mid-September.
