(Somersworth, NH) — The mother who triggered an Amber Alert last week has waived extradition and is one step closer to returning to New Hampshire.

According to officials, 32-year-old Kaileigh Nichols took her two children from their grandmother’s residence in Somersworth.

The grandmother has legal custody of the eight-year-old and 11-year-old and also been involved in court battles with their mother.

Nichols and her children were found safe in South Portland, Maine. She was arrested on two felony counts of interference with custody.
