New Hampshire Pulls Up Rare Blue Lobster Last Week In Waters Off Seacoast

How’s this for a fishing story? A New Hampshire fisherman caught an uber-rare blue lobster last week. The fisherman, ID’d as Jake Eaton, says he hauled up the distinctive crustacean in waters near the Isle of Shoals. To put into perspective just how rare such a catch is, Eaton – who reportedly has been going out three to four times per week over the past decade – says he’s only caught one blue lobster before. Scientists say a rare genetic abnormality causes some lobsters to produce more of a certain protein than others, which produces the blue color.
