Gov. Sununu Rejects Request For Special Session To Codify Abortion Laws

(Concord, NH) — Governor Sununu has rejected a request from lawmakers to call a special session of the Legislature so the state’s abortion laws can be codified.

Democrats had asked the governor to bring lawmakers back to Concord, but Sununu says that’s not necessary since the Supreme Court decision involving Roe v. Wade will not change any current abortion laws in the Granite State.

However, he did say he would sign a bill codifying abortion rights if it ever reaches his desk.

If the governor changes his mind and calls a special session, it would have to be approved by the Executive Council.
