127th Boston Marathon

Kenyan Evans Chebet won his second Boston Marathon in a row yesterday beating a field that included the current marathon world record holder.
Gabriel Gay, of Tanzania, finished second, with Kenyan Benson Kipruto, winner of the 2021 Boston Marathon, coming in third. 

Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, the marathon world record holder, dropped back behind the pack earlier in the race and was unable to catch up to the leaders. He had led for much of the race before falling behind and finishing sixth. 

Scott Fauble was the top American finisher, crossing the finish line in seventh place  

New Hampshire’s Ben True from West Lebanon finished in 23rd place, in 2:16:06., the fastest time a NH runner has ever run at the Boston Marathon. After the race, he said he was grateful to all the spectators. 

Hellen Obiri, of Kenya, won the women’s race at the Boston Marathon with a time of 2:21:38. 

Marcel Hug, of Switzerland, and Susannah Scaroni, of Urbana, Ill., won the men’s and women’s wheelchair divisions of the Boston Marathon. 

Monday’s race was a special one, marking the 10th anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon bomb attack.
