Brentwood Youth Development Center Abuse Case Settled

A man who claimed he was physically and sexually abused during the three-year period while he was held at Bentwood’s former Youth Development Center is getting a significantly lesser amount than the settlement that was originally announced.

A jury awarded David Meehan $38-million-dollars in damages on Wednesday.

State justice-department officials, however, pointed out sometime after the verdict was announced that Meehan would receive only $475,000 based on state law that caps maximum damages per incident at that threshold.
