A sunny and breezy day is forecasted for today, but another March storm moves through New Hampshire this weekend. A big chunk of New Hampshire will see plowable snow, while wintry mix and rain are expected to make for a slushy mix elsewhere. Rain, mix and snow will move into southwestern New Hampshire around 10 tomorrow morning and move across the state throughout the afternoon tomorrow. Communities south of Concord could see a quick burst of snow but the precipitation there will likely mainly stay as rain and a wintry mix.
Manchester police said a man was killed in a crash at a busy intersection last evening. The crash happened at about 5 p.m. on Granite Street at the intersection with the ramps to I-293. Police said the crash involved an Acura and a BMW. Police said the driver of the Acura, a 35-year-old woman from Derry, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Her passenger, 32-year-old Michael Shattuck of Manchester, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW, a 64-year-old woman from Manchester, suffered minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Five suspects who are accused of conspiring to move the body of a dead man are expected to be in court today. According to investigators, the remains of 40-year-old Mark Hudson were discovered earlier this week in an area off Paradise Road in Newport. Hudson had been missing for several days and the cause of his death is being looked into. The suspects have been identified as 50-year-old Laurel Ayotte, 27-year-old Christopher Ayotte Junior, 19-year-old Jacob Ayotte, 31-year-old Candace Fontaine, and 32-year-old Ryan Palmer. All five are facing felony charges.
Two people are continuing to recover after being seriously injured in a crash that happened in Stoddard. Officials say an 18-year-old was driving on Route Nine yesterday when their vehicle ended up hitting a tractor-trailer that was getting ready to back up into a logging site. The 18-year-old and a 19-year-old passenger were extricated from the vehicle and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn’t hurt.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be making an appearance in the Granite State next week. The Republican is set to appear at a town hall event at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics in Manchester on Monday. Some political experts believe that Christie might be interested in running for the White House in 2024. The only Republicans currently in the contest are Nikki Haley and former President Donald Trump.
