Manchester Police Department Adds Eight

The ranks of the Manchester Police Department have grown by eight following the swearing-in of new officers.

These latest members include six men and two women, who begin work Tuesday with in-house training before eventually moving out into the field.

However, the department is still hard at work trying to fill 21 vacancies that remain.

Mayor Joyce Craig also announced gun crime in the city this year is down almost 40%.
