Funeral Escort for USMC Capt. Jack Casey of Dover

Funeral Escort for USMC Capt. Jack Casey of Dover

The body of Capt. Jack Casey, a U.S. Marine Corps pilot who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in California, will be returned on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, to his hometown of Dover for funeral arrangements.

The Dover Police Department and the New Hampshire State Police will be assisting the U.S. Marine Corps in escorting Captain Casey and members of his family. A funeral procession – escorted by law enforcement vehicles – will take place between the Pease Air National Guard base and the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion funeral home at 655 Central Avenue in Dover.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a brief plane side service will occur at the Pease ANG base where the U.S. Marine Corps will participate as honor guard and pall bearers.  This ceremony is not open to the public.  Immediately following (at approximately 12 noon), Dover and State Police will lead a funeral procession to Dover where Captain Casey will be transferred to the care of the funeral home. The procession – which will include members of the Casey family – follows a route that specifically drives past local schools that Captain Casey attended.

Members of the public who wish to pay tribute are welcome to position themselves anywhere on the funeral procession route – preferably wherever it is safe to park without impeding traffic.
