Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Removed from EPA List

After three decades, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has been removed from an Environmental Protection Agency list.

The shipyard was designated as a superfund site back in 1994 due to health and safety concerns.

A total of seven areas near the shipyard were identified as possibly being contaminated.

The Navy has agreed to do reviews every five years and submit reports to the EPA.
