Christa McAuliffe Statue Unveiled in Concord
There is now an eight-foot bronze statue of Concord teacher-astronaut Christa McAuliffe outside the New Hampshire Statehouse.
At Monday’s unveiling Governor Chris Sununu described her as ‘larger than life.’
Picked from 11,000 to be part of the ‘Teacher in Space’ program, 37-year-old McAuliffe and the rest of the crew died when the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart shortly after launch on January 28th, 1986.
Monday would have been her 76th birthday.
