Hampton Town Clerk Ordered to Resign
The Hampton town clerk is under the direction from the Attorney General’s Office to resign by August 9th.
An investigation was conducted based on a complaint that Shirley Doheny mishandled ballots during the state’s January presidential primary and the town election in March.
An assistant attorney general said Doheny’s actions demonstrate that she is not able to carefully and lawfully administer elections, administer the absentee voting process and secure election records. The AG’s office is also recommending the Secretary of State’s Office appoint an election monitor to oversee the September state primary in Hampton.
