Officials Release Details Linked to Croydon Helicopter Crash
More information is coming to light about this month’s deadly helicopter crash in Croydon.
Late last week, officials with the National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the October 6th incident.
According to that report, the pilot, 73-year-old Carl Svenson, encountered poor weather conditions after taking off around 7:30 p.m. on the way to Quonset.
Officials say nine minutes into that flight, the copter descended while completing a turn, and hit several trees before plummeting into a marshy area off Pine Hill Road.
Svenson, who was alone in the chopper, was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
