Portsmouth Resident Shocked at Hospital Bill

Portsmouth resident Mark Brighton recently received a bill for the more than 24 hours he spent on a gurney in a hospital emergency room hallway.

The bill totaled $14,692, according to Brighton, who was shocked at the size of the bill from Portsmouth Regional Hospital. His portion of the bill is $111 thanks to Medicare.

A Portsmouth Regional Hospital spokesperson pointed out ‘hospitals across the country are facing staffing shortages in all areas, and emergency departments and inpatient units have been hit especially hard.
