Rep. Bordes Says He Is Worried Gunstock May Not Be Able To Open This Winter

Elected officials in Gilford are calling for an emergency meeting to consider calls for removal of Gunstock Area Commissioners Peter Ness and David Strang.

The meeting will place Thursday, August 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the County Complex.

As the name calling and saga continues around the closed Gunstock Mountain Resort Belknap County State Representative Mike Bordes told Good Morning New Hampshire at this point, he’s worried Gunstock may not be able to reopen for the Winter ski season.

“Honestly, I am very skeptical if we don’t get a management team in place soon, this is my personal opinion and personal view, I don’t think they will be able to open this winter”, Bordes said.

An audit on the finances at the resort is expected to be completed soon. Yesterday, another Belknap County Commissioner alleged financial mismanagement at the mountain and is asking the attorney general’s office to investigate further.

“There will be an investigation and some aspects will be referred to the Attorney General”, Norm Silber told Jack Heath.

Bordes disagreed with that statement saying, “in my view I do not believe there was financial mismanagement or wrongdoing. Again, the audit is not complete, so I would like to see financial evidence on that. From what I hear from every employee on the mountain, the management team is irreplaceable and fantastic.”

County Commissioners wrote a letter to New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella calling for an investigation.
