A New Jersey man is set to be arraigned today for allegedly causing a Bartlett police officer to be hurt in the line of duty. On Saturday, that officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Eric Conover. A chase lasted for about eight miles before Conover intentionally struck the officer, who was out of his vehicle, and sped off again before finally being captured in Carroll. Conover is charged with attempted murder and the officer is already out of the hospital.

Social issues will be taking center stage this week as lawmakers continue this year’s legislative session. Among the topics being debated in the coming days include assisted suicide, abortion and parental rights. So far, committees in the House and Senate have heard testimony on more than one-thousand bills that have been filed. The committees will spend time this week holding executive sessions and making recommendations on any remaining measures.

The state Department of Health and Human Services is issuing a warning about raw milk from a farm in Brentwood. According to the agency, there’s a concern raw milk from Brookvale Pine Farms could be contaminated with listeria bacteria. The affected milk has best if used by dates that run through March 22nd and was sold inside a half-gallon container. Anyone who has the milk should get rid of it immediately and contact their doctor if they show signs of illness.

Granite State motorists are still paying less of their hard-earned money to fill up their vehicles. Triple A says the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel right now is sitting at two-91. That is down four cents in the last week and is also eight cents lower than what drivers were paying at this time one month ago. Currently the national average for gas is over three-dollars per gallon.
