Bemis Fire In White Mountains Is 45% Contained
Firefighters are making progress knocking down a forest fire in the White Mountains.
The Bemis fire is in the Crawford Notch state Park and is now 45% contained.
The fire on private land is comprised of three smaller fires.
Officials say the two days of rain helped, but part of the ground was still dry, enabling the fire to burn deeper.
If you are planning a hike this upcoming weekend, keep in mind several trails remain closed.
