Brentwood Sheriff Accused of Misspending Taxpayer Money Arraigned

WMUR reports Sheriff Mark Brave appeared in court Thursday for his arraignment.

The Strafford County sheriff is on administrative leave for allegedly stealing $19,000 in county funds.

He is also accused of perjury and falsifying evidence.

Brave denies the allegations, saying the case is politically and racially motivated.

State prosecutors proposed the same bail conditions that are currently in place, including instructions that Brave avoid having contact with a slew of individuals named in the case file.

Terms of bail also include that he should not possess a firearm or other dangerous weapon.
