Executive Council Approves Plan To Replace Booths

The toll booths in Bedford on the Everett Turnpike will be removed, but the tolls will be staying.

On Wednesday, the Executive Council approved a  $16 million contract to replace the toll plaza with all-electronic tolling.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

The toll  plaza has been the site of several severe accidents over the past years.  Tolls on the Spaulding Turnpike in Rochester and Dover have undergone a similar transition.
