Homeless Man Faces Charges Following Weapons Discharge in Franklin
A local homeless man is facing charges following Wednesday evening’s accidental discharge of a firearm in Franklin.
Police say 41-year-old Jacob Champney and the as-yet-unidentified 46-year-old victim were comparing their respective firearms inside a Plains Court residence when Champney’s gun accidentally fired, hitting the other man in the hip or in one of his legs.
The victim was hospitalized and is expected to recover.
Police say Champney was charged with reckless conduct and felony possession of a firearm.
No one else was hurt.
