House Committee Rejected a Sanctuary Bill

The House Municipal and County Government Committee has voted against a bill passed by the Senate to prohibit sanctuary cities in New Hampshire.

The website InDepthNH.org reported that, as a result of the vote, the measure will not get a recommendation for passage from the committee when it gets to the House floor.

Supporters argued the bill is central to the Legislature’s role to protect the public’s health and safety.

Opponents said it would be an intrusion into local authority.
