Investigation Underway Into Cause Of Fire

An investigation is underway into what caused one of the biggest fires in Milford in recent years.

The multi-alarm blaze happened yesterday at a building on South Street in that community. It took crews several hours to finally get all the smoke and flames under control.

The building had eight apartment units inside and thankfully no one was hurt. However, those residents are all displaced and will need a new place to live.

The Milford Fire Department said firefighters from multiple towns responded to the fire on South Street around noon.

Chief Kenneth Flaherty with the Milford Fire Department said officials are investigating the cause of the fire, but it’s believed to have started on the exterior of the building.
