Laconia Warming Center Closed Until Next Winter
The city of Laconia and the Lakes Region Mental Health Center finished another year of their warming center.
Opening in late November, the center offered a respite from the cold, as well as warm food and drinks.
The center was open when it was deemed a cold or severe weather day, and that determination was often flexible.
But in the heart of winter, in January and February, the center was open a total of 21 days.
The center continued to help the unhoused population through March and closed for the season after April 4, and is expected to reopen in November.
