NH Governor Kelly Ayotte is calling for a change to the Granite State’s current bail law.  The new governor said legislation that’s on the books now makes it easier for suspects to avoid being held in jail after being arrested.  Under this current law, a suspect will only be held following three prior arrests plus failures to appear in court.  The governor says the law is absurd and dangerous and is calling on the NH state legislature in Concord to take action.

A 42-year-old Nashua man is now facing charges in connection with a shooting last August in Sullivan Park. Officers responding to the scene found Alexander Rivera Aponte with a gunshot wound to the leg.  Investigators determined that during a planned confrontation with a group of juveniles at least two guns were fired, one from a woman with Aponte and another by a juvenile. Aponte is charged with felony riot and violation of a protective order in addition to an outstanding drug-related warrant.
