Governor Ayotte is expressing support for the continuation of the Northern Border Alliance. Thanks to the Executive Council, more money is heading to the border of the United States and Canada in the form of more than 100-thousand dollars to cover law enforcement overtime. Between July and December 2024, officers handled 32-hundred incidents but none were related to illegal immigration. The governor is planning to maintain funding for the alliance in her upcoming budget proposal.

A Laconia man has been arrested after State Police say he drove the wrong way on Interstate 93. According to Troopers, 63-year-old Dexter Cilley went up the Exit Two northbound ramp in Salem Tuesday before traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and being spotted by police. He was later stopped, taken into custody and charged with reckless conduct. There were no crashes caused by his actions.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office says plans are in the works to distribute thousands of carbon monoxide detectors. The devices will be going to homes and schools all across New Hampshire. Last year was one of the deadliest ones for carbon monoxide poisoning in the state with 10 people passing away after being exposed to the gas. Detectors are being paid for with a 90-thousand-dollar grant from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Anyone who wants to apply for one can head to redcross-dot-org.

The Transportation Security Administration says there were 48 firearms detected at airports in the New England region last year. That’s down from the record of 52 set back in 2023. Of those weapons, three of them were found at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport by TSA officers doing routine screening. The TSA says any responsible gun owner should know they can’t have their weapon at an airport checkpoint.
