An off-duty police sergeant from Portsmouth was killed in a crash early yesterday morning while driving home from work. 41 year old Jacob Wolterbeek was killed when he crashed into the rear of a box truck on the Maine side of the Piscataqua River Bridge early yesterday morning.  Police said the box truck was stuck in traffic that had built up because of a separate, two-car crash on the New Hampshire side of the bridge.  Wolterbeek was pronounced dead at the scene.  Wolterbeek was a police sergeant for the Biddeford Police Department in Maine.  He served on the force for 18 years.

Two people have lost their lives after the truck they were in went into a body of water.  Carroll County deputies received a call yesterday about a truck that was on its roof and submerged in water near Potter Road in Eaton, NH.  The doors ended up getting stuck because of mud and debris and after the truck was recovered, the bodies of the victims were seen inside.  The names of those individuals haven’t been released and the incident is under investigation.
