State Police say there have been nearly 250 reported cases of wrong-way drivers on the Granite State’s roads this year. The incidents have led to crashes and a commission is being created to try and prevent those numbers from going even higher. Authorities say alcohol is a common factor in these crashes as well as people suffering from medical conditions. Work is underway to develop better ways to alert motorists and law enforcement about wrong-way drivers in real time.
New Hampshire Senator Maggie Hassan is sharing her thoughts on President Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter. Hassan believes that Mister Biden should have kept his word and not pardoned his son, who pleaded guilty to multiple charges. Hassan, a Democrat, says there have been questions raised about the criminal justice system’s independence and that the president’s action doesn’t ease those concerns. Hunter Biden was facing the possibility of decades in prison.
A proposal has been unveiled that is calling for Dartmouth Health to take over operations at Hampstead Hospital. The plan, which has the support of Governor Sununu, calls for the state to continue overseeing the facility, but Dartmouth Health would run all services that help children and adults. There have been several incidents at the hospital in the last few months, including violent patient outbursts. The Executive Council is scheduled to vote on this proposal tomorrow.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing scam. The AG’s office says it has received reports of people being sent emails asking them to pay a fee using cryptocurrency in order to prevent embarrassing information about them from being released. That email contains personal data about the recipient including their name and home address. Anyone who gets a message like this should report it to the AG’s consumer protection hotline.
