No Injuries as Bonfire Sparks Overnight Fire at Hampton Beach
No injuries are reported following Saturday’s pre-dawn fire on some dunes at Hampton Beach.
Local fire officials say they got the call around 3 a.m. about a bonfire.
Responding firefighters reportedly arrived at the scene a short time later to find that the flames had spread to area marsh grasses, potentially threatening the nests of endangered Piping Plovers.
Authorities say firefighters were able to extinguish the flames without incident.
Cause is under investigation.
