Officials ID Body of Hampton Downing Victim as Massachusetts Fisherman

Authorities are releasing the identity of a man whose body was pulled from the water last week near Hampton Beach.

Police say a fisherman discovered the body of 47-year-old Stephen Gelineau [ “GEL-eh-noh” ] Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

The Lowell, Massachusetts man’s body was dressed in fishing attire, prompting investigators to conclude he died as a result of accidental drowning off the Hampton jetty.

An investigation into Gelineau’s death is ongoing.
