Portsmouth Residents Complain of Campers Leaving Behind Trash
Some Portsmouth residents are complaining about campers leaving trash and raw sewage behind in their neighborhoods.
Overnight camping is not allowed on Peirce Island, but that rule has not typically been enforced, but now will be according to Channel 9.
Some of the campers are living in their vans because they can’t afford housing in the area.
As the campers are kicked off the island, officials said they’re finding their way to residential neighborhoods nearby, which are now dealing with crowded, narrow roadways and raw sewage after the campers drain their tanks.
