Students Receive Life Experience at Gilmanton Fire Department
Monday marked the first day and first step for three Lakes Region Community College fire science students.
According to the Laconia Daily Sun, the trio of 18-year-olds arrived at the fire station, where they will literally live and breathe firefighting to get hands-on experience in the field.
The program has been running since 1981 and is for those students pursuing an associate degree in fire science.
During the week they’ll do chores, learn firehouse culture and technical skills, in addition to attending classes.
