Sununu Signs Area Code Executive Order

Governor Chris Sununu signed an executive order Tuesday to extend New Hampshire’s 603 area code for as long as possible.

Due to the growing amount of phone numbers, it’s estimated the 603 will be exhausted within the next few years.

The executive order also directs the Department of Business and Economic Affairs to conduct a study into the impact of adding a second area code.

The Granite State has had 603 since 1947.
