Suspended Strafford County Sheriff Must Pay for Lawyer

Suspended Strafford County Sheriff Mark Brave has been ordered to pay for his own lawyer.

Tuesday it was determined that Brave has enough assets available to cover his legal costs and does not qualify for a free public defender.

Brave is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in county funds, falsifying evidence, and perjury.

The state Attorney General’s Office claims he lied about trips he took so that he could be reimbursed for them.

Brave has denied any wrongdoing.
