There is confirmation that mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus are present in Manchester.

People bitten by an infected mosquito can experience flu-like symptoms including fever, muscle aches, headaches and fatigue.

In some rare cases the illness can be more serious.

The public is advised to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
