York Beach Businesses and Residents Debate Trash Policy
Kim Pare has been passing out trash bags at the Beach Bliss Café, her new shop at Short Sands Beach.
If she doesn’t, she fears trash will pile up due to a lack of receptacles.
Like some other business owners, she has said the carry-in, carry-out police for trash has left beachgoers often without a place to put their waste.
Too often, she said, it ends up on the sidewalk or in the sand.
Residents and beach business owners will get to air their thoughts on the carry-in, carry-out policy for trash at York’s beaches at the Selectboard meeting on September 25th.
The policy was implemented by the town when the COVID-19 pandemic started and has stayed in place since.
