Laconia Murder Suspects Competency in Question
The competency of a Laconia murder suspect is in question.
In April of 2019, now 26-year-old Hassan Sapry allegedly murdered 57-year-old Wilfred Guzman Senior at Guzman’s Laconia townhouse after a conversation about race and religion.
Then in 2022, a mistrial was declared due to what the judge said were ‘unforeseen issues’ which are believed to have been related to the judge ordering a competency evaluation for Sapry.
This week, an evidentiary hearing was held to determine if Sapry is now competent to stand trial, but details of the hearing remain sealed from the public.
As of now, Sapry remains behind bars on second degree murder charges.
