New Lobstering Restrictions On Hold
New lobstering restrictions in the Gulf of Maine are being placed on hold once again.
It’s the second time the new regulations have been delayed with officials saying they won’t go into place now until July of 2025.
The regulations would increase the minimum size of a catchable lobster by one-16th of an inch. It would also require lobstermen to use traps with larger escape holes that would allow smaller lobsters to get out.
New Hampshire lobstermen aren’t thrilled about the new regulations, saying they are going to take an expensive chunk out of the money they make.
