Chair of Gunstock Area Commission Says He Will Not Resign; My Job Is Getting The Resort Open ASAP
In his first public interview the Chair of Gunstock Area Peter Ness said on Good Morning New Hampshire he will not resign his post.
The resort is closed until further notice after senior managers quit in protest last week and employees walked off the job. “No one asked those workers to leave, what they did forced the closure”, Ness told Jack Heath.
There has been a lot of names calling and finger pointing over alleged financial mismanagement and wrongdoing at the Gilford Resort.
County Commissioners wrote a letter to New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella calling for an investigation.
“An audit is underway, but it’s being made more complicated after the Chief Financial Officer walked off the job. I think there are issues that must be reviewed”, he said. “We asked questions and they got upset”.
Ness said his job is to get the mountain back in operation both short and long term.
A majority of the county delegation called for an emergency meeting to consider calls for removal of Gunstock Area Commissioners Ness and David Strang.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the County Complex.
