Several Inches Of Snow On The Way

Motorists across the region might want to set aside some extra time for their evening commute later today.
The incoming storm is expected to bring several inches of snow, and there is another storm likely to follow this weekend.
Once the snow begins, its intensity will increase fast, leading to quickly deteriorating road conditions. Snow will fall across most of the region for several hours. The snow will fall at its heaviest from about 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., with snowfall rates of at least one inch per hour possible, at times.
In the late afternoon, snow will likely change over to a light wintry mix or very light freezing rain in southern New Hampshire as the intensity weakens.
Travel conditions will be tough during the afternoon and evening as the snow mixes to freezing rain and sleet.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 8pm tonight.
The precipitation will end tonight.
In all, expect an accumulation of about 3-6 inches of snow for most spots. There might be lower amounts at the coastline and also in spots west of the White Mountains.
