Fire In Gilford

Police say a section of Route 11 in Gilford was closed earlier this morning as firefighters responded to a blaze off Lockes Hill.

The fire destroyed the historic Kimball Castle in Gilford and according to the Gilford Fire Department, the building is a complete loss and has been ordered to be taken down.

The Kimball Castle was built in the late 1890’s and the building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
