New Hampshire Poll shows Strong Support For Increasing Availability Of Starter Homes

A new poll from Saint Anselm College is showing strong support for increasing the availability of starter homes.

Pollsters surveyed just over 12-hundred registered voters in New Hampshire, and almost two-thirds said towns and cities should change zoning regulations to allow for more housing development.

Three-quarters also supported having parts of every town where single family homes can be built on smaller lots, showing a 15-percent just from when pollsters asked the same question in 2025.

Elissa Margolin, the director for the Initiative for Housing Policy and Practice at Saint Anselm College, said changes need to happen at the state and local levels for more starter homes to become available in New Hampshire.
