Man Dead, Woman Wounded In Newport

A man is dead and a woman injured in Newport.

Police responded to a house on Putnam Road around 6:45 last night.

The man was dead at the scene, the woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

No names were released.  Authorities said there is no threat to the public.
