The COVID pandemic has worsened a nationwide staffing shortage for emergency medical technicians and paramedics, but a new program is hoping to make it easier to train.

The three-month program called ‘Earn While You Learn Academy’ hires trainees as employees, compensating them while they attend a certification course.
