Fuel Assistance Applications Reach 28,000
More than 28,000 applications for fuel assistance in New Hampshire have come in so far this season.
That number is on par with last year but well over the number of applications in 2021 and 2022.
Those applications are up from past years, which can lead to delays, but the state said 85% of the applications submitted have been started.
Since 2022, the need for help with home heating and electric costs is up 30%.
Fuel assistance is a federal program and, and the Department of Energy said more people are eligible than they realize.
A single-person household making $41,000 or less is eligible for help.
