Former Executive Councilor Peter Spaulding Dies at Age 80
A former member of the New Hampshire Executive Council has passed away at the age of 80. Peter Spaulding died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The Hopkinton resident was a member of the council for 24 years Spaulding was first elected in 1970 as a Merrimack County commissioner and then went on to run for Executive Council, where he served for over two decades. After serving for 24 years, he ran and won a seat on the Merrimack County Commission again, serving until 2022.
Peter Spaulding also worked on multiple presidential campaigns including the campaign of Sen. John McCain of Arizona where he served as New Hampshire campaign co-chairman during McCain’s runs in 2000 and 2008. Spaulding is survived by his wife and three children.
