Body of Atkinson Fire Chief Escorted to Funeral Home

The body of Atkinson Fire Chief Brian Murray was escorted from Colebrook to a funeral home in Windham on Monday after he died over the weekend WMUR reported.

Officials said Murray, 53, died in Pittsburg while he was away for a ‘guys weekend.’

Murray’s death was unexpected but not suspicious, Atkinson fire officials said.

Monday’s escort started with the Colebrook, Pittsburg, Lancaster and Salem fire departments, picking up members of police and fire departments along the way, as well as motorcycles from the International Association of Firefighters.

Firefighters said they’re leaning on each other at this time.

Murray is survived by his wife and 10-year-old daughter. Plans are underway for a funeral and procession.
