A lot of prominent Republicans are getting together this weekend in Nashville to mingle with people known for giving a lot of money to GOP candidates. The Republican National Committee’s donor retreat is an opportunity to connect with big donors early in the 2024 primary cycle. Former President Donald Trump, who launched his campaign last November, will be there. So will former Vice President Mike Pence, who’s expected to formally become a candidate sometime this year. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu will be there as well. Sununu hasn’t said he will run for the GOP nomination, but he also hasn’t said he won’t. Today, Governor Sununu is traveling to Indianapolis to deliver remarks at the National Rife Association’s Annual meeting.
An investigation is now underway into what caused a crash in Derry last evening that left two people dead. The collision involving two motorcycles and a vehicle happened last night in the area of North Main Street and Nesmith Street in Derry. A 21-year-old man who was operating one of the motorcycles died at the scene and his 20-year-old passenger passed away at a nearby hospital. The names of the victims haven’t been released.
Rochester Middle School was closed today as police continue to investigate what is being called a “life safety situation.” The school’s principal, Ryan Gilpatrick, sent an alert to school families notifying them of the closure earlier today.
The man who allegedly made a threat that caused schools in Portsmouth to be closed down has been arrested. Police say 25-year-old Kyle Hendrickson was in a Snapchat video outside of Portsmouth High School where he claimed that he was going to shoot up the school. Hendrickson was taken into custody in Maine and is now facing a felony charge. Schools were open today.
Both the prosecution and defense have agreed to push back the upcoming murder trial of Adam Montgomery. He’s the father accused of killing his young daughter Harmony Montgomery back in 2019. The trial was supposed to start this summer, but now it’ll begin with jury selection in November. Harmony Montgomery was not reported missing for years and her body has yet to be found.
