Bruins Fire Montgomery

The Boston Bruins are moving on from their head coach just 20 games into the regular season.

The B’s announced today that Jim Montgomery has been fired.

Montgomery had led the team to a 120-41-and-23 record in two-plus seasons behind the bench. He won the Jack Adams Award as NHL coach of the year in 2023 after the Bruins set the NHL record for most points in a regular season with 135.

Associate coach Joe Sacco has been named interim head coach. Sacco was the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche from 2009 to 2013, and has been part of the Bruins’ coaching staff since 2014
