Earth Day – Lend a Hand during Dover’s “Power of an Hour” Citywide Cleanup

Don’t Trash Dover and the City of Dover are sponsoring “Power of an Hour,” a one-hour volunteer litter collection event organized by ward on Saturday, April 27, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to arrive at their ward’s designated meeting location by 9:15 a.m. wearing a safety vest or bright clothing, gloves and closed-toe shoes. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Bags will be provided.

For one hour, volunteers will pick up litter in their ward, being mindful of private property and safety. The ward with the most, second-most, and third-most participants will receive trophies.

Meeting locations by ward are:

Ward 1: Frances G. Hopkins Elementary School, 78 Horne St.

Ward 2: Dover Ice Arena, 110 Portland Ave.

Ward 3: Woodman Park Elementary School, 11 Towle Ave.

Ward 4: Garrison School, 50 Garrison Road

Ward 5: Dover Middle School, 16 Daley Drive

Ward 6: Hellenic Center, 219 Long Hill Road

The citywide cleanup supports Dover’s mission to keep the community green, and is held to help celebrate Earth Day this year, which is Monday, April 22. Residents are also invited to participate throughout the year during Don’t Trash Dover’s monthly litter collection walks.

Deb Clough, organizer of ” Don’t Trash Dover,” joined Mike Pomp on the Morning Information Center on the observance of Earth Day 2024.
