Female Inmate Found Dead in Jail

A 40-year-old woman was found dead in her cell at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester late Sunday night.

Despite life-savings efforts Jessica Cook, with no known address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A contraband sweep was conducted in the jail Monday after there were overdoses involving several other female inmates.

The Hillsborough County Department of Corrections said drugs had been illegally smuggled into the jail.
